Ask a Favor
Hi George, neighbor, cousin,
Hope you've been well. I think the last time we talked was on Halloween, at the Little League game, over the holidays, but I need to ask a favor. I was wondering if you could water my plants, pick up my mail, feed my cat over the weekend of (dates here), on (this, next) Saturday, tonight. I wouldn't ordinarily ask, but my sitter, kids, mother-in-law who was going to handle this is sick, called-away, stranded in another city. I hate to impose but it would be only for this very brief period time; I've made other arrangements for the following day(s), week. I'd be delighted to return the favor and even bake your favorite brownies, take your trash to the dump, babysit your kids as a thank you. Let me know if this is at all possible, and I'll get the key to you. If not, I totally understand especially because this is such a last-minute request.
